FAQs

General

Q: How old does my son need to be?

A: We offer teams for ages 10 to 18, divided into four age groups: U12, U14, U16, and U18. Players who are 12 years old and younger can participate on the U12 team, and so on.

Q: My son is new to volleyball, does he need experience to play?

A: No, all levels of experience are welcome.

Q: When is the indoor season?

A: The Boys' season typically runs from November through May, with an extended period until early July if they participate in nationals or a post-season event.

On average, they compete in one tournament per month within the Western Boys Power League. Their tournament schedule includes stops in Spokane, Boise, Vancouver/Portland, Mercer Island, Centralia, Canada, and back to Spokane. Please note that some locations may be subject to change.

Practice

Q: How often do you practice?

A: We typically practice twice a week, for approximately 1.5 to 2 hours each session.

Q: Where do you practice?

A: Most teams practice in Spokane Valley.

Travel / Tournament

Q: What does a tournament look like?

A: On Fridays, we travel to the tournament city. On Saturdays, teams arrive at the gym around 7:30 AM and participate in pool play until mid-afternoon. We often have team dinners on Saturday nights. Sundays are tournament days, starting early in the morning. Teams play until they are eliminated, and then they travel home.

Some teams will stay local to participate in one and two day tournaments depending on availability. The final tournament of the year, Border Smackdown, is always held in Spokane.

Q: Do I have to stay at a specific hotel for travel tournaments?

A: We strongly encourage you to stay at the same hotel as the coaches. However, this is not a requirement, as we understand that some may have family or prefer other options that might be cheaper.
